From Struggle to Formulation: A Founder’s Story

Meet Stacey

For many years, founder Stacey struggled with dry, irritated skin and hormonal outbreaks. Despite numerous GP visits and prescribed steroid creams, her skin became more sensitive and reactive, even pure water could cause irritation. Feeling frustrated and hidden behind her skin concerns, Stacey decided to take a gentler path.

She began researching natural alternatives, enrolling in a Natural Organic Skincare Diploma and graduating in 2023 with Distinction. From there, she started formulating products for her own skin type using cold-pressed, unrefined ingredients rich in superfoods and actives.

Within days, her skin began to recover, it became calmer, healthier, and more resilient. That transformation became the foundation for SAO Wellness Skincare.

The SAO Approach: Minimal, Mindful, and Nature-Led

SAO is built on a “starts within” philosophy, focusing not only on what goes on the skin, but how we nurture it from the inside out. Stacey pairs her skincare with a mindful approach to nutrition, hydration, movement, and self-care.

Hero Ingredient: Papaya Enzyme

One of Stacey’s favourite ingredients is Papaya Enzyme, a gentle, natural exfoliant that leaves skin smooth and radiant without the irritation of physical scrubs.

 “The reason why I use papaya enzyme is because I needed an exfoliator that wasn’t a physical one such as particles in the product that scratch into the skin and needed something more gentle and soothing for inflamed, irritated dry skin.

After researching natural exfoliators, I found that I could order through Incicellar instead of from the USA, helping to save on costs. I love how it breaks down skin cells, allowing them to be washed away rather than physically scrubbed off, which could irritate and worsen skin problems.

I love the feeling papaya enzyme gives; soft, warming when massaged in, and leaving a beautiful glow after use. I’ll always use this ingredient now, and it’s even better that I can get it from Incicellar.”
