This week, we’re shining our light on Amaranthine, a natural skincare brand rooted in craftsmanship, care, and conscious beauty.
Founded by Sarah, a natural skincare formulator, aromatherapist, and former nurse and beauty therapist, Amaranthine began in 2017 as a passion project and has since grown into a trusted small business where every formula is handcrafted in Sarah’s Glasgow studio.
Every product is lovingly handmade in small batches to ensure freshness, quality, and integrity, blending raw, nutrient-rich ingredients with a deep understanding of skin health.
Amaranthine is also proud to be the first skincare company in the world to attain the Certified Palm Oil Free trademark, and is PETA Certified Cruelty Free through the Beauty Without Bunnies programme. Sustainability is woven into every step from ethical and fair trade sourcing to minimal, mostly recyclable packaging and refill options.
From Nursing to Natural Skincare: Sarah’s Story
After years in nursing and beauty therapy, Sarah saw first-hand how skin concerns can impact confidence and wellbeing. Her curiosity for natural ingredients and their therapeutic properties led her to retrain as a skincare formulator and aromatherapist, and soon after, to create Amaranthine.
What began as a small idea in her kitchen has evolved into a thoughtful, award-winning brand with a loyal community that values slow beauty, transparency, and truly effective natural formulations.
Her dedication to conscious formulation has been recognised with multiple honours at the Free From Skincare Awards, where Amaranthine has won Gold, Silver, and Bronze for its exceptional formulations and commitment to sustainability.
Amaranthine has also been featured in The Scottish Herald, where Sarah shared how her small business saw incredible growth during the pandemic, reflecting a wider shift toward supporting independent, sustainable brands.
Why I Formulated Face Oil+ and Chose Coenzyme Q10
“A lot of my customers had been asking for something to support their skin as it matured. Since my face oil has always been my most-loved product, it just made sense to create an elevated version, one that builds on everything people already love, but with a little extra support for skin that’s starting to change. I wanted it to keep skin calm, nourished, and glowing as the years go by.
